Preventive Restructuring: Sunset on Insolvency?

Download the Joining Instructions and Technical Programme here.

In October 2017, the INSOL Europe Annual Congress will be held in Warsaw, Poland, a thriving and fast-developing metropolis of 1.7 million inhabitants which boasts a wealth of history and culture, as well as intense commercial and political activity.

Focus this year will be on “Preventive Restructuring: Sunset on Insolvency?”, one of the most burning issues of our time. Indeed, a Proposal for a Directive on preventive restructuring frameworks, second chance and measures to increase the efficiency of restructuring, insolvency and discharge procedures and amending Directive 2012/30/EU was published on 22 November 2016 by the EU Commission. INSOL Europe has taken up the role as torchbearer in this field since 2010.

Against this background we will discuss the practical implications of this preventive restructuring directive, the challenges in the businesses of today and also provide real life examples of innovative and creative approaches in distressed situations. Of course, the first applications of the new regulation which will have come into force and the question of group insolvencies and insolvency registers will be discussed, not forgetting the implications of Brexit for insolvency and restructuring.

Over 340 delegates have already registered and will be joined this year by a Congress Moderator, Sally Bundock. Sally is a Financial Journalist who has been working for the BBC in London (UK) for 20 years. Sally has presented the early morning edition of World Business Report on BBC One, BBC News Channel and BBC World News for the last 10 years and recently launched the BBC's flagship business programme, Business Live, which is shown every week day at 8.30am on BBC News Channel and BBC World News. President Trump, Brexit, the global financial crisis and the eurozone debt crisis are just a snapshot of what's been keeping her on her toes in the recent months and years, so we look forward to her input in Warsaw.
